This cup that I made is 4 inches by 3.5 inches and is personally one of my favorite projects that I have made this semester. I decided to carve in a hand with it's thumb up on the side because it's something I always doodle on my papers, and I thought it would look cool on this cup. It is glazed inside and out with a dark dark blue that I actually happen to like a lot more than I thought it would!
The process of making and actually completing my first bowl was quite the struggle if I were to say so myself. My first attempt I was satisfied with, but was lost in the complication of somebody claiming it to be theirs. Then my second attempt, I made it on a Friday so I bagged it and put wet clay in the inside, and when I came in to foot it the bag was off and it was much too dry to foot. So finally, my third attempt I was able to complete the bowl and here it is. It has a smooth texture on the inside and out, and is glazed in a new yellow glaze that I had never used before and I am satisfied with it. This bowl is 2.5 by 5.25 inches. This is my Vase, it is 4.5 by 2.5 inches. The outside has a relatively rough outside, which started off being an accident, but I decided to apply the texture throughout the entire outside of the Vase. The outside is glazed in a forest green, while the inside is a new Teal glaze that I had never used before but decided that I really like it. This is my bowl that is 7 inches by 3 inches that I made on the wheel. The outside of this bowl has a very smooth texture to it, while the inside has a sort of ringed and relatively bumpy but smooth texture. I decided to glaze the inside a deep forest green, and the outside a dark blue. The footing job I did I also glazed a forest green to contrast the inside of the bowl but the dark blue glaze dripped onto it causing it to mix into a greenish blue color. This is the first wheel project I have ever made, and it is a 4.25 by 2.75 inch cylinder. However due to how dry it was the day prior to creating it, I could never get around to footing it which was a disappointment. It's glazed inside and outside with a forest green glaze. Again inside and outside it has a very smooth texture all through out. This was my choice project for the first quarter, and I decided to make a pig. This pig is 4.5 by 4 inches and was created for the use of a piggy bank. It's glazed in a teal color, but it turned out looking like a lighter blue. The texture all around it is very smooth. This is my unique soft slab project that is 5.75 by 4 inches. My intention was for it to be just a rock looking cylinder, but then I saw the people making trees and I wished I would've chosen the tree print, so I just decided to add branches and a base. I'm not exactly sure what you would call it but it's consists of a dark blue glaze on the inside and in the cracks and a clear glaze covering the rest. This is my Hard Slab Box project and it is 6 inches by 3.5 inches. I added an Aztec print to it, and put in cuts to look aged and trimmed the rim to follow the theme. I glazed it with a yellow because I felt like it fit the theme. The inside is overall pretty smooth rather than the cuts, and the outside it's bumpy due to the Aztec print. This was my very first project I did this semester, and I would say one of my best. It's a pinch pot made turtle and sits at 7 inches by 3.5 inches. It's has a forest green glazed body and the shell is a clear glaze. I added horns, buldging eyes, a baseball hat, and bumps on the shell to add 3D affects. My coil pot project that I made is 6 inches by 4 inches. It consists of about 8 coils but of you were to count the space where no coils are it would be around 10 or so. There's 8 swirls that wrap all the way around to add positive space, and around the rim as you can see is the negative space. It's only glazed in one glaze which happened to be a common one used by me, dark blue. |
